Silent Weapon is the solo industrial/electronic/noise project of Umair Chaudhry started in 2022.

Umair grew up in Oxfordshire, UK and started making music at the age of 8, and has been involved in various bands/projects over the years, including Xmas Lights, Gift of Blindness, Abandon, Future Proof and Walls of Freedom. Currently he is based in Didcot, near Oxford.

Known for intense live shows, SW has played at various venues/festivals in the UK including legendary industrial/electronic festival INFEST supporting Test Department.

Style wise the music is beat driven, with intense sub-bass, dense layers of synths/noise and distorted vocals.

Comparisons have been made to Killing Joke, Godflesh, Scorn, Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Author and Punisher etc.

Releases to date include the EP “Eggshells”, full length album “Purge”, remix album “Purged” and EP “The Fear of the Possibility of Chaos”.

Silent Weapon has received favourable reviews from Nightshift Magazine Oxford and various zines. Airplay on BBC Introducing Oxford, The Melting Pot Radio show (Get Radio, Oxford), Dark Tunnel Radio and Wigwam.

Album no. 2 is in progress to be released later in the year, featuring guest Dave Barbarossa (Adam & The Ants, Bow Wow Wow) and others.

“Sounds like sirens from a future war-ravaged city howl ominously as synth sounds are bent out of shape, yet continue to pile on the pressure with each track and by the end we feel both sandblasted and cleansed. Magnificent.” – Nightshift Magazine (Live review)

“This is beautifully bleak music for end times.” – Nightshift Magazine (Album review)
